As a new player are they any ways to get caught up (granted you will never match the older players)? I'd like to unlock a few professions

Oh Sure!
Just keep an ear out. We might offer Reknown for specific Donations or Volunteering Rewards.
We reward our Full Time staff with a Reknown bonus as well.
